Anglicare PNG In. is a national non-government organization funded by the Anglican Diocese of Port Moresby in 2000. The establishment of its operations has been the church’s response to the growing HIV/AIDS crisis facing Papua New Guinea so it can help those infected and affected by the disease.
Anglicare Port Moresby Branch offers the following programs:
Our program is now more focused at strengthening referrals i.e., individuals and organized groups that are associated with Key Affected Populations (KAP) bringing in clients to receive quality HCT, STI and HIV treatment, care and case management for ongoing follow up and support services with the aim of reducing transmission rate.
These services include Home Based Care for PLHV, VCCT, Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART) and monitoring our Drop In Centre also Provide Nutrition, Psycho Social Support, Income generation activities, Spiritual Care together with Personal Development and Self Care.
Our Begabari Clinic and VCCT Centre open from 8:30am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.

This program is in partnership with Ginigoada Bisnis Development Foundation which targets marginalized women, girls and youths who wish to gain Basic Sewing or Marketing, Cooking and Baking Skills to improve their own livelihood.
These courses run for 4 weeks and to enroll, one needs to attend one of Ginigoada Bus Programs.

Adult Literacy Program
Anglicare Pom Literacy Centre offers 4 Levels of classes:
Subjects covered are LEM Phonics, English, Mathematics, Life Skills and the integration of cross cutting issues such as HIV/AIDS, Family Planning, Gender Base Violence, Drug and Alcohol. There are 2 semesters’ per year, each semester runs over 20 weeks which includes breaks. At the end of each semester, there is graduation for students who pass the next level. Level 4 students who graduate sit for FODE entry test to continue their education. School fee is K20 per semester.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
The WASH program commenced in 2013 under funding for WaterAid Australia (PNG). It is inclusive WASH which means it aims to promote WASH interventions which are sustainable, age appropriate, gender inclusive and non-discriminatory to promote a healthy, happy and conductive learning and living environment for targeted populations.
Anglicare WASH program targets schools, health facilities and communities marginalized populations’ access services and resides with the aim of strengthening the national and international efforts to:
- Provide sustainable and integrated WASH services in schools, health facilities and communities where PLHIV reside.
- Provision of increased access to adequate and sustainable sanitation and hygiene facilities especially latrines, hand washing facilities and shower rooms and solid waste disposal facilities, and
- Promotion of safe hygiene behaviors through the provision of an integrated WASH into HIV programming: Incorporating the production and dissemination of information, education and communication (IEC) materials and WASH capacity building training programs,
- Provide education to communities with the aim of reducing stigma and discrimination PLHIV and promoting WASH and gender inclusion in all WASH activities.
